Lima Al-Azzeh

From my posts you might already know that I’m a huge lover of the arts and of food. I love that either activity can empower the exchange of cultures and build bridges amongst Canadians. When I’m not blogging, I can be found with my nose firmly planted in a good book!

Get to know Lima’s favourite spots in Burnaby..

Where to go in Burnaby on a sunny day – I’m a “Relax in the sun” kind of girl, so to me a stroll through Deer Lake Park and a lovely picnic lunch would be ideal. Of course, I’d be sure not to leave any litter lying around!

Where to go in Burnaby on a rainy dayMetrotown. Is there anything that place doesn’t have?

Favourite place to eat in Burnaby – This is the hardest question!! For me, it’s a toss up between G-Be Izakaya and EBO restaurant at the Delta Burnaby Hotel and Conference Centre, luckily they’re all in one convenient place.

Favourite annual event in Burnaby – I’m new to exploring the Burnaby area but I’m really excited to check out the Burnaby Blues and Roots Festival this year. I keep hearing about it and I keep feeling like I’m missing out!

Best thing to do with the kids – I don’t personally have kids of my own, but I had an absolute blast at the Burnaby Village Museum, between the carousel and the museum itself. It would definitely be my top pick for a fun, kid-friendly place that offers lots of activities.

Best Date spot in Burnaby – As I’ve mentioned, I’m a big food fan. I’d say Hart House Restaurant takes the cake for best date spot.

Burnaby’s best kept secret – I think Burnaby’s best kept secret is that there’s always tons going on somewhere! From exhibits at the Burnaby Art Gallery, shows at the Shadbolt to a variety of cultural festivals. I’d definitely keep up to date with the Events Calendar so I wouldn’t miss anything.

How would you describe your writing style: With any type of writing that I do, my main priority is to be as genuine as possible. I want to be able to transport the reader to this place using my words and hopefully give them a real glimpse of what I am experiencing. But, if I had to put it in a nutshell, I’d say my writing is adjective-heavy!

Top three favourite posts on 11Stations.

Sheliza Mitha’s “Family Staycation in Burnaby“  – I love Sheliza’s writing, it makes you feel like you’re right there with her. And, the idea of a staycation is irresistible to me.

Mana Mansour’s “A Stroll Through the Heights, Part 2“  – I actually read this post way before I started contributing (Mana is a dear friend of mine). I was so excited to finally read about Romana’s Pizza! I honestly would see people toting pizza boxes from there everywhere and never knew where it was! This piece was enlightening. And it made me hungry.

My “Culture Blast: An Arts Explosion – Burnaby Village Museum” post. I’m not tooting my own horn here with this one, but this was one of my first posts as a blogger for TB and I had such a great time exploring the Burnaby Village Museum. I’d never been there before and it was absolutely charming. One of my favourite days “on the job”.
