What is more uniquely Canadian than Street Hockey? We all experienced it, whether it be moving our rickety nets for passing cars, or digging through our neighbors lawns searching for our plastic orange ball; (hey, we only had one and they were like 2 bucks each at Wal-Mart), street hockey was a way for kids of all ages, and both genders to bond, and to learn to love the game of hockey. Giro di Burnaby

After a two year hiatus, the City of Burnaby welcomed back the Giro di Burnaby Criterium Cycle Race. Throngs of Burnaby residents lined the streets of the Burnaby Heights to watch as athletic men and women lapped a few city blocks on their bicycles for a chance to win the ultimate $2,000 prize and a host of other cash rewards as well.

Play On! The Canadian Street Hockey Tournament

It’s a great season for hockey lovin’ and everyone was feeling the spirit this past weekend at Hockey Night in Canada’s event Play On! The Canadian Street Hockey Tournament. Adult and kid teams flexed their hockey muscles out on the street rinks and one special game was even given the celebrity treatment, inviting prominent lower mainland figures to show us what they’re made of. Memorable moments included getting Mr. O’ Canada himself to sing the national anthem and watching a former Canucks player live in action! Continue reading →
