Bring on the Shop-a-thon for Moms
by Sheliza Mitha
We all know that Christmas is all about gifting and giving – sourcing those perfect presents for your family, friends, co-workers and so on. It’s also true that the post-Christmas sales are more about the getting – finding those perfect items that you now realize that you (or your family and friends, but mostly you) couldn’t and shouldn’t be without.
Enter the Shop-a-thon for Moms in Burnaby: your chance to do the getting for you (just in case Santa missed some items on your Christmas list).
This remarkable day-long shopping marathon on Sunday, Jan. 8th has been created and built with moms in mind, bringing some notable brands, online retailers and deals, deals and more deals to your doorstep.
Featuring clearance items, samples and other items, everything will be up to 80% off at this event. Plus, there’s the firefighters – yes, that’s right… firefighters. The Vancouver firefighters from the 2012 calendar will be on hand to collect a requested $2 donation at the door, with all proceeds going to The Burn Fund.
The Shop-a-thon for Moms presents more than 30 exhibitors featuring a variety products to help you dress up for date night (think Stella & Dot and Aloette Cosmetics), get the family ready for lunch or a picnic with some classic Tupperware, or simply stock up on some adorable, hard-to-resist children’s clothing, books and stylish eco-friendly bottles, lunch bags and other items.
One of the many vendors at this incredible one-day event is Fresh and Desired (FAD), a unique local company that represents a variety of trendy and eco-friendly products through their family of brands. Whether you’re interested in giving yourself some (much deserved) pampering or refreshing your supply of everyday necessities, FAD is known to be “Fresh and Desired” with its collection of brands that include Buffalo Natur, Fill Your Own, Forsman Teas, HeidiKids, Mitt-ONS, Pearl & Daisy Natural Soap Company, Shevron Cards and Silkberry Baby.
Co-founded by mompreneur Annette Yang, one of the primary goals of FAD is to assist other small businesses through their growing pains as a start-up, as well as help existing businesses grow their markets, and aid established businesses in building stronger customer relationships.
The FAD brands are typically small family-based businesses, most of which have been started up by other mompreneurs as well as one dadpreneur. Many of the FAD product lines are based in Metro Vancouver, though the agency also represents brands from around the country and even one from across the world. FAD – along with The Dream Tea Boutique and Fill Your Own – will be on hand at the Shop-a-thon this Sunday.
And, of course, there will also be much, much more at this marathon shopping event. I, for one, have my eye on some stylish eco-friendly ware, crafty crafts for the kids, Tupperware for the family, as well as some make-up and shiny jewellery… just for me (which happened to be missed on Santa’s list this year).
Don’t miss out on this Shop-a-thon for Moms, which runs from 10am to 4pm this Sunday, Jan. 8th at the Vancouver Firefighters’ Convention Hall (next to Metrotown). Oh yes, did I mention that you’d be welcomed by some firefighters from – ahem – their 2012 calendar? Well, I think that little fact bears repeating.
Oh, and there’s another bonus – the first 50 moms through the door will receive lovely reusable shopping totes filled with goodies from Fill Your Own (one of FAD’s stylish, eco-friendly brands).
A day of shopping and calendar-worthy firefighters; try as I might, I cannot think of a better way to spend a wintry cold Sunday. See you there!
